In the beginning…

The idea of floating an alumni association was conceived by a crop of bright and futuristic young ex-students of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure in 1958. Their dream was to have a platform that connects the old students with their alma mater with the belief believe that a link between the past and the present would chart a roadmap for the future and ultimately rub-off positively on the school and its stakeholders. The outcome of their deliberation gave birth to what is today known as Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure (OGSA) Alumni Association.

Since its inception more than 60 years ago, the association has largely achieved the dreams and aspirations of its founders by promoting and advancing fellowship amongst the alumni of the school, both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora through a carefully woven network of branches, led by committed ExCo members at the state level.

    OUR COMMITMENT

Our focus is woven around the time-tested truism that to live a fulfilled life is to positively impact humanity. Consequently, our commitment is encapsulated in the three-letter word CIP which stands for Capacity Building, Infrastructural Development and Protection of members’ interests anywhere in the world.

    Capacity Building

We are committed to building the next generation of would-be ex-students that will excel, not just in their academics, but also in their chosen endeavours. We are fully conscious of the complexity of today’s economy and what it takes to succeed in a globalized world. Our goal, therefore, is to build the intellectual capacity of our students and teachers alike to succeed in these modern times.

    Infrastructural Development

We are committed to bridging the funding gap in the infrastructural development of within the school campus. We are not unmindful of the intricate link between academic performance and well-equipped laboratories and conducive learning environment. Our goal is to harness the resources of our members and partners to build an institution that all of us can be proud of.

    Protection of members’ Interests

We are committed to protecting the interests of our members both at home and in the Diaspora. Our mantra is: what concerns one, concerns all. To this end, the association shall support individual members to excel in their professions, businesses and careers in an ethical manner.
